40,000 Jobs At The Barisan Nasional Youth Career Fair 2011

Imagine 40,000 jobs opening for you to choose from :) …. and that’s the number of jobs available for grabs at the BN Youth Job Fair 2011.

The 3 day fair at the Putra World Trade Centre started yesterday and features 650 exhibitors. It is open from 10am to 8pm and ends on Sunday.

Date & Venue
25th – 27th March 2011
10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Tun Razak Hall 1,
PWTC Kuala Lumpur

Barisan Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said over 50,000 individuals had registered online to speed up the entry process and reduce paper consumption at the venue.

“This is the first job carnival where you do not need to bring a hard copy of your resume. All they have to do is register online either at home or at the fair.”

“They are then given a card with a barcode which will be scanned at the exhibition booths and they can be interviewed on the spot,” he said yesterday at the launch of the fair by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Khairy said the fair was the result of feedback received during last year’s Barisan Youth Lab which showed that over 60% of youths were mainly worried about their career and future.

The career fair also provides value-added services such as resume clinics, internship opportunities for students and counseling, he added.

Khairy also announced the setting up of a Barisan Youth Education Scholarship which is available to qualified students regardless of race or religion.

Various institutions of higher education have pledged RM16.7mil to kick-start the fund, which offers 230 spots from diploma to postgraduate level, details of which will be published on BN Youth Education Scholarship website by next week.

“We will set up a committee to ensure the scholarships go to those who really deserve them,” he said.

A. Logesh, 20, who came from Hulu Selangor, said he was hoping to find a job in the information technology sector before he graduates next month.

Fazilah Niru, 24, who was looking for a job as a nurse, lauded the system at the fair, stating that it was easy and convenient.
